Book covers are amazing, some make you laugh, some make you cry, and some are just down-right gorgeous! Cover Discovered is a series of blog posts I do here at The Bucket List, where I bring you the latest book covers that were revealed not too long ago. Mind you, these covers may not be the final cover that will go on the final product, but book covers are always pretty to look at.  Today, instead of looking at just books that haven't come out yet, I wanted to show you a theme I noticed (a cover theme that may or may not break the book sales).


There is a bunch of themes going on in today's YA covers, but one that has been bothering me has been these creepy eyes looking at you from every angle you look.  The cover makes me want to flip the book over when I sleep because I seem to see the glint of their eye in the dark; they might be coming to get me (no, but really: these covers can be creepy).  These models may have some awesome eyes, or just computer generated eyes, but I really don't want those eyes staring at me for long periods of time.  See what I mean:

Would you want those eyes staring at you all day?  I don't think so.  These covers may capture what these books are about but does it stop people from buying the copies.  What would you say?  I think it has a lot to do with what the book is about.  The second book in the series, for an example, does not matter as much as if it was the first because if I am already in love with the series, of course I am going to buy the second.  However, if the cover scared me as much as Rot and Ruin does, maybe I shouldn't buy it (however, I already bought a copy and am waiting to scare myself with it during the fall).  Do you think covers like these, creepy covers effect how much a book sells?

Ah, their noses are just so big!  This was the cover that started this themed post.  I mean, are they a little too close to the camera.  It is so intense that I don't want to look at it too long.  However, this book sounds fantastic; that I will be definitely diving in soon.  The book has gotten such great reviews that I wouldn't want to miss something like it but the cover just hurts.  I feel like I bumped into two people kissing, no wait, that's the next cover.

It is no secret that people judge books by covers, but what do you feel when you look at this cover.  I feel like I just walked into a room and had to immediately step back out because some couple was kissing in a private moment of passion.  It's cute but not something that I would read in public.  I don't know why but if you haven't read this one, don't let the cover stop you from getting too close.  You can read my review HERE.

To be completely honest with you, I do not like this series at all, ever since book 1, you can read my review for Matched HERE.  That, however, does not mean that I can't stare at such pretty covers.  Matched's cover had to be my favorite because my favorite color green and this red is just not working out for me.  I like the symbolism of the covers: how she is breaking free of the "government's" hold.  I also love that in each book, she is slowly breaking free.  If you do not understand what I mean by that, check out all the covers side by side HERE.  Overall, I love these covers.

Going with the theme of dystopian books, here is another pretty one for you.  The first thing when I look at this cover, I see the awesome tattoo that the purple girl is sporting.  It looks like one of those tattoos that you can get painted on at the circus or fair in the summer.  Then I noticed her purple eyes, which are a rare case of awesome.  If I were to see her walking on the street, I would be kind of scared and kind of amazed because this purple girl is gorgeous and so is this cover.  I'm jealous of her braid, by the way.  And I also noticed that the same type font for the title, seems to be used for Reached or they are just very similar.

Wait, what?  As much as I like the idea of Jace and Clary in each other's arms on the cover, where is there theme of not showing their faces... wasn't it time for a Magnus cover or someone?  It just doesn't go with the theme.  I see your face, what is with that?  I love this series and I want to know what this book is about.  I love the cover; it is pretty and if it was a cover by itself, I would love it even more.  I, especially, love how the lightening moves into Clary's hair.  Really nice.

I know this one is going to be great because it's Julie Kagawa.  You don't have to look at the cover to know how good it's going to be.  I love this cover though; it's very clever.  I love how the eye color matches the red and black blood streaming down her cheek.  It looks interesting and when this releases, I'll probably pick it up because the cover kind of draws me in.

Cyn Balog is a fantastic writer, so if the cover hasn't won you over yet then the writing of this novel better.  But, seriously, take a look at this cover.  There is a carnival in the background that looks very mysterious.  Especially if that guy, that one can only assume is Nick, is in attendance at said carnival.  Now that would be some time.  He has a velvety atmosphere that looks so awesome.  I want to read more about this book.  Even the title font looks so creepy that this one is definitely something to check out.

I haven't read anything by this author, but this book sounds good and I sort of like this cover.  Just a note, this is the cover for the German edition.  The US cover edition has not released yet, but I'll probably definitely show it when it does.  The cover of Touched looks mystical and enchanting.  I love how the butterfly blends into the background.  Having the model's eyes closed just adds to the magical essence of the cover.  Anyway, it is really gorgeous and hopefully when the US cover releases, it will be as awesome as this one.

So today, I had some awesome trend of discovering two awesome covers both named Touched.  Make sure to the check the books out when they release cause they might be as good as the covers.  Which cover is you favorite?

Finally!  The cover is released!  This book looks so great and I can't even explain how cool the cover is.  I just can't wait until this book comes out!  Okay, the cover.  Gorgeous!  Even MTV did an exclusive post about the cover.  This is big news, folks! (I always wanted to say something like that-)  I'm jealous of the girl's dress.  It's so pretty; it looks like it could be a ballet dress, only a very long ballet dress, at that.  And where is she dressing up to go?  A party?  She's definitely not going into battle with that thing on, right?  That would take definite skill.  And she looks good for being caged up by the Reestablishment; it's truly amazing.  And I'm loving the title font; I like the slash in the middle, how it gradually gets smaller.  That's pretty cool.  I just know this book is going to rock my world.  What about yours?

The cover has been released, look at that beauty up there.  I love when the book covers keep up with a theme through the series.  It looks similar to the design done on XVI which I loved.  At bottom, it says the TRUTH always comes out... I'm not sure if I quite understand what will happen with the TRUTH but I definitely want to find out.

Okay, the cover of Clarity was okay, but this one is down right gorgeous!  It gave me chills when I first saw it.  It says, Someone's watching. which freaked me out even more and had me looking around my shoulder to see if anyone was there like the girl on the cover.  I love the picture of the woods behind her, it's almost as nice as the woods behind my house.  This cover also makes me wonder if the Fern family are still in Cape Cod or if Harrington changed the setting.  We'll just have to wait and see.

I really don't know anything about this novel, other than it has a great cover.  It reminds me of summer which is why I wanted to show it off.  LaCour is a fantastic writer, she wrote Hold Still, which was published in 2009 and if you haven't read it, you definitely should.  It's fantastic!  I can't wait for this one.  It's bound to be as great as Hold Still.  Plus, the cover is amazing.  If I can see it correctly, in her sunglasses you can see someone taking a picture of her.  And I love the angle of the sun and I may be the only one, but I want to go buy a shirt like that (with the rainbow on it), it looks so adorable.  Really great cover!

Ahhh, look at that beautiful cover up there.  Unearthly was some angel-goodness so I can't wait for this wonderful-looking sequel.  I love the girl's dress, a lot of covers have girls in awesome dresses nowadays-- I congratulate you, awesome dress-designers.  The first book had the same title font, which is still gorgeous and I'm loving the thrown-in feather.  So pretty.

Wow, this is just wow. Do you see this cover? I know the cover has been revealed countless times, but I've been so busy. I just had to give my two cents on it because the cover is FANTASTIC! I love the scenery. It looks so real and I get shivers every time I look at it. I assume those on the cover are Patch and Nora. I love Patch's wings, so great. Nora looks like she was in need of saving, so thank goodness Patch was around to save her from that wave or splash, whatever thing of nature that is. Love the cover. Love it.

I really don't love the background. But I think I'm jealous of the dress the model is wearing. The model's pose is something I'm not too fond of, but one can not have everything. Though not every book has to have a good cover- as long as it's a good book, then that is all that has to work for me. Though I love the theme in this series, that every model on each cover has to be carrying a parasol. I really like the idea and it adds to the uniqueness of the series, which is always a great idea.

Wow now this cover is intense.  I thought about this cover and I've decided I really don't care much about it.  Every cover in the series, usually has a certain look to it, and its not this look (that's not very helpful, but I don't know how else to put it).  The mean guy in the corner there (well, for one thing he doesn't look very friendly) and he's put there out of no where.  He just popped right up in the corner of the cover.  I do like the expression on the model, however.  I makes me feel inspired but other than that, I'm not really thrilled with this cover.

I like this cover.  Rachel Caine is one of my favorite authors so this on has to be good.  I love how the cover is so symmetrical, it really brings the eye towards the model on the cover.  The model reminds me of Rosalie from the Twilight series.  She has that sort of pissed-off look that I sort of like.  It looks good on her.  This is a pretty good cover.

This is a debut author, Lia Habel, but the whole book sounds epic.  It's not just the cover that draws you in.  It's the zombies, the steampunk, the dystopian feel.  Love it all.  I am definitely counting down the days for this one to come out.  The cover is gorgeous.  It looks creepy, yet beautiful.  I love how she's in a graveyard, holding a parasol and looking all gloom and doom.   She's wearing an amazing dress and everything about it is just black-and-white gorgeous.

I love this cover.  The flowers really bring out the girl's dress.  Her bare feet are very cute.  The whole cover goes with the theme of the entire series.  It's very pretty.

This book sounds awesome, but the cover brings it into a whole other hemisphere of cool.  I love how the cover circles around frustration.  Her hair is just turning into wisps of smoke and it looks so imaginative and awesome that when this book comes out, I'll probably be buying it.  I love the title font; it looks almost like the words could become the smoke as well.  Everything pieces together nicely.  It's an amazing cover!

Sadly there is no information on this book.  I haven't read this series yet, but the covers are very cute.  This series is in the point-of-view of a young girl named Riley, who was introduced in Noel's The Immortals series.  The cover is really adorable and the entire thing reminds me of spring.  I am definitely in need of some spring, especially since I look out my window and the ground is still covered in snow.  The color scheme is great.  This cover is fantastic and truly magical.

After drooling over Halo's cover for hours, I finally have something else to drool over.  This cover is like a teaser.  The picture seems a bit dark and when I first saw it I closed in the computer screen until I banged my head.  It took me a few seconds to figure out that they were riding on a motorcycle (yes, I am blond).  Still, I am trying to figure out how she can be barefoot on that thing (I mean, I've tried the whole barefoot thing with my bike and it never works out).  All we have to do is wait until August to find out her secret!

Look at all these cool covers!  I know I am counting down the days for Lola to come out.  It sounds really good, especially after the greatness that was Anna.  I don't like this cover as much as Anna, but still it looks adorable.  The pose looks forced, but otherwise I think it's a good cover.

I loved the green on Matched and this cover lives up to the other one.  This one may even surpass it.  I love the symbolism- that Cassia is finally breaking out of the bubble that the government has put on society.  It's a really awesome cover!!
